Looking after Leather

Leather is a natural product and one could almost say it has a life of its own. Edition Poshette prints embrace the leathers natural beauty and ensures the warmth and softness every time you touch it. All of the Edition Poshette prints are decorative additions onto the leather. The ivory coloured leather enables the illustrations and patterns to be printed onto it, almost as if it were paper. Like a favourite book you carry around with you it may get scratched or appear ‘well read ‘ after a while, but the leather itself is durable, strong and versatile. Combining the delicate decorations with the strong leather will give your Edition Poshette its own personal expression. It will hopefully have its own stories to tell, its own journeys and with a bit of care and attention these stories and journeys will only make the item more charming to wear.

The purpose of the smaller items is to carry with you only what is necessary, so take care not to over-fill, as it may make an item loose its shape. When you’re not using your Edition Poshette, store it in the fabric bag provided. When storing make sure it isn’t up against something that could accidently create an impression on the leather.

You may want to use a leather conditioning cream to keep the leather supple and stop it from drying out.

Babywipes are good for keeping the leather clean, or you can try dampening a soft cloth with mild hand soap and warm water and wiping the surface. Don’t scrub it, but rub a little conditioner in after its dried.

It is difficult to remove stains from leather, so don’t let biros and make up loose in your bag. Be careful of pigment transfer from dark coloured clothing, denim is a regular culprit. Oil, grease and ink are nearly impossible to remove. Fresh stains such as spilled liquids or food should be cleaned up immediately with a damp cloth or leather cleaner. Before using any products, always test a small, non-visible area first such as the base. Apply product to a cloth rather than directly onto the leather.

The printed leather does not mind getting wet, however leather isn’t waterproof, if its pouring rain, it might be better to use a different bag/ or keep it sheltered under a big scarf or a jacket. If the unprinted leather gets wet, blot with a paper towel, and allow it to dry naturally. Never place it in direct heat or sunlight for prolonged periods of time as this may cause the leather to crack or the colour to fade unevenly.

Leather ages naturally, colours and prints may change with use, these are the characteristics of all Edition Poshette items.

They are intended to be worn and loved and we hope you agree that they will only improve with time.
